Sentinels have secured victory in the grand final of VCT Masters Madrid, joining an exclusive group as only the second VALORANT organisation to lift a second international title.

Their journey to this triumph was marked by resilience and determination, as they faced formidable opponents from across the globe.

Despite encountering challenges, including a loss to Gen.G, Sentinels demonstrated their championship calibre by overcoming adversity and claiming revenge in the grand final.

The series against Gen.G was a spectacle of skill and strategy, with both teams showcasing their prowess across multiple maps.

The decisive moment came on Icebox, where Gen.G faltered under pressure, allowing Sentinels to seize victory.

Throughout the series, each map was fiercely contested, highlighting the competitive spirit of both teams and captivating the audience in Madrid.

Tyson “TenZ” Ngo’s return to the international stage was nothing short of triumphant, marking a revitalization of his career and legacy since his debut in 2021.

His role transition from main duellist showcased his adaptability and contribution to Sentinels’ success.

Among the Sentinels’ roster, Gustavo “Sacy” Rossi stands out as a dual-title holder, a feat achieved by few in VALORANT history.

Meanwhile, players like Jordan “Zellsis” Montemurro and Zachary “Zekken” Patrone have solidified their positions as key contributors to Sentinels’ victory, with Zellsis serving as an emotional anchor and Zekken making a name for himself as one of the game’s best players.

The leadership of coach Adam “Kaplan” Kaplan played a crucial role in shaping Sentinels into a strategic powerhouse, guiding them to their second international title.

This victory represents years of dedication and hard work, signalling Sentinels’ triumphant return to the forefront of VALORANT esports.

The win not only earns Sentinels prestigious accolades but also positions them favourably for qualification into VALORANT Champions 2024.

As they prepare to resume the Americas league, Sentinels bask in the glory of their achievement, ready to continue their dominance in the competitive scene.

Esports superstar Tyson “TenZ” Ngo could feature in his last season with the Sentinels’ Valorant team in the 2023 VCT season. The Canadian player had earlier in the previous offseason agreed to remain with the franchise after being approached to re-sign.

However, according to the VCT Global Contract Database (GCD), the 21-year-old signed a one-year extension deal with the Sentinels for the VCT 2023 season. With their poor outing in the 2022 season, the one-year deal suggests the Sentinels have a short span to turn things around, or TenZ will seek success elsewhere.

Unlike TenZ signing a one-year deal that keeps him under contract with the team till the 2023 season, the new Sentinels additions all signed a two-year deal with the franchise. The roster, which includes Rory “dephh” Jackson, Bryan “pANcada” Luna, Gustavo “Sacy” Rossi, Zachary “zekken” Patrone, and coach Don “SyykoNT” Muir, are all tied to the franchise till the 2024 VCT season. Also stuck with the team till 2024 is the sixth man, Hunter “SicK” Mims, who signed an extension recently.

While his one-year deal does not translate to him leaving the franchise by the end of the 2023 season, it is also not written in the stars that the players with a binding contract until the 2024 season will remain in the team for that duration. The franchise could decide to trade or release them while still under contract. The outcome of the Sentinels’ campaign in the upcoming season will play a major role in TenZ’s decision and the franchise’s likewise.

After an unsuccessful competitive run in the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive esports title, TenZ is hopeful of achieving success in the Valorant scene. The player of Vietnamese descent has recently expressed his high expectations for the Sentinels and himself in the 2023 season.

He was a guest at an interview with content creator Tarik a few weeks ago, where he praised the team’s roster, describing it as “a tournament-winning roster.” He particularly sang the praises of his new teammate Zekken and new coach, SyykoNT. He was also enthused to show the world the skill he possesses, promising to get back to the caliber of player he was in 2021.

“I think I have a lot more to show,” TenZ said in an interview with Tarik.

“The recent results don’t show exactly who I am as a player.” “Hopefully, I can show the form I was in before.”

The Sentinels, as led by TenZ, will compete in the 2023 season alongside 29 other partnered Valorant teams. The season will commence with the VCT 2023 Kickoff tournament, which is scheduled to be held in February in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Sentinels had recently made some additions to the organization with the acquisition of Drew “DrewSpark” Spark-Whitworth on October 28 and an analyst and streamer joining the organization on November 11.

Tyson “TenZ” Ngo, Sentinels’ star player, has extended his contract with the franchise. The North American esports organization made the announcement on October 12, after much speculation concerning the player to fill the team’s fifth roster spot.

TenZ will carry on his run with the Sentinels in the 2023 VCT season as the only returning player from the 2022 lineup. For the past few weeks, the Valorant player’s future with the team has been undecided, mainly because of the new influx of players. TenZ’s contract with the NA team lasted until the end of 2022.

Earlier reports revealed that TenZ and the Sentinels were in negotiations for the player to extend his time with the team. However, the deal was yet to be completed.

The Sentinels brought on some new coaches, including Adam Kaplan and Don “SyykoNT” Muir, to help create a champion lineup for the fast-approaching Valorant season. According to prior reports, the Canadian Duelist was among the top options considered for the roster.

The announcement post revealed that the new roster would be “built around” TenZ, who is known as one of the best players in the world despite the Sentinels’ poor performance this year. The player’s contract extension with the organization is possibly Sentinel’s most impressive accomplishment during the VCT offseason.

TenZ initially joined the Los Angeles-based franchise in June 2021 after the issue with Jay “sinatraa” Won, and as such, it was no surprise the team were not equipped to receive the player at the time. The contract purchase from Cloud9 was reportedly a “seven-figure deal.” TenZ went on to share roles with former fellow CS:GO player Shahzeb “ShahZaM” Khan.

During the VCT 2023 rebuild, ShahZam was placed on the bench, and TenZ’s recent contract extension revealed that he would hold the reins in his more familiar role.

The Sentinels have certainly been occupied with the VCT rostermania since the Valorant teams were announced. The team took on former XSET coach SyykoNT and two players from the franchise, superstar Zachary “zekken” Patrone and Rory “Dephh” Jackson, to boost the squad, although the latter has yet to be announced.

TenZ’s four other teammates from last season, including ShahZaM, Hunter ‘SicK’ Mims, Michael ‘dapr’ Gulino, and Jared ‘zombs’ Gitlin, have been benched and allowed to look into other options. SicK and zombs were initially not part of the Valorant lineup toward the end of the season. SicK previously took some time off and cited personal reasons, while zombs was replaced mid-season.

Dapr was benched earlier to create space for the Sentinels’ new intakes, Brazilian stars Bryan “pancada” Luna and Gustavo “Sacy” Rossi from LOUD. The team’s former in-game leader, ShaZaM, on the other hand, will become a free agent after his contract with the team expires.

The Sentinels are one of the 10 organizations selected for the VCT 2023 Americas league and will compete in the league next year during the February Kick-off tournament. Other American squads with a similarly impressive roster for the 2023 season include Evil Geniuses, FURIA, LOUD, Cloud9, and NRG.
