FlyQuest’s League of Legends division is reportedly making a significant roster change ahead of the LCS Summer Split 2024.

Veteran mid-laner Nicolaj “Jensen” Jensen is rumoured to be benched for the entire split, with Song “Quad” Su-hyeong set to be promoted to the main roster from FlyQuest Challengers.

Quad has had a notable journey in his career, starting with DRX as an academy mid-laner before moving to Gen.G and NS RedForce.

In 2024, he debuted in the LCS with FlyQuest Challengers.

Initially known as a Cassiopeia specialist, Quad has since expanded his champion pool significantly, showcasing his versatility and growth as a professional player.

FlyQuest Challengers had an impressive spring split, finishing first in the regular season and sweeping Maryville University 3-0 to win the tournament.

Quad’s outstanding performance, particularly his expertise on meta champions like Ahri, Taliyah, and Corki, earned him a promotion to the main roster.

Notably, Quad led the NACL mid-laners in kills and had the second-highest KDA in the spring split, with an impressive 879 average damage to champions per minute, according to Oracle’s Elixir.

FlyQuest’s main roster also had a strong start in the spring split, quickly becoming fan favourites.

Despite finishing first in the regular season, they fell short in the playoff finals against Team Liquid and struggled at the Mid-Season Invitational.

As a result, FlyQuest is likely looking to Quad to reinvigorate the team’s performance and push them back into championship contention.

With Jensen potentially benched, his future remains uncertain.

He might transfer to another team for the summer split or take a temporary break from competitive play to pursue streaming, a common path for many pro players in similar situations.

The only expected roster change for FlyQuest is Quad’s promotion, as the team believes they have the building blocks for a championship and need that one piece to propel them to the top.

Quad’s addition could provide the needed firepower and fresh perspective to help FlyQuest reclaim their position as top contenders in the LCS.

American esports outfit Dignitas have reportedly reached a verbal agreement to sign Lucas “Santorin” Larsen and Nicolaj “Jensen” Jensen ahead of the 2023 League of Legends season.

Santorin is a 25-year-old Danish national who presently represents Team Liquid and has played for top esports teams since making his professional League of Legends debut in 2014 while playing for Fox Sound. The Danish jungler was part of Team Coast, NRG Esports, H2K, and FlyQuest before he transferred to Team Liquid in November 2020, making his stay with the team elapse for a period of two years. The player has made more LCS appearances than any other tournament and was part of FlyQuest when the team won back-to-back second places at the 2020 LCS Spring and LCS Summer, in which the team won a prize pool of $50,000 respectively.

Santorin and Team Liquid also replicated the same success in the 2021 LCS, where the team emerged in 2nd place at both the LCS Summer and Spring, garnering the same $50,000 prize pool.

On the other hand, Jensen is a Danish player from Cloud9 who started his professional career in 2012 with the founding roster of the now-disbanded Team Solo Mebdi before moving on to SK Gaming in 2014. Jensen has hit numerous milestones in his League of Legends journey, as he was named the three-time LCS champion, MVP at the 2019 LCS Summer Finals, and the 6th player to reach 1000 kills in the LCS behind Yiliang “Peter” “Doublelift” Peng and a host of 4 others.

Santorin and Jensen will be joining other players in Diginitas such as the top laner Lee “Hoon” Jang-hoon, who joined the team in July this year, jungler Lawrence Lin “eXyu” Xu, bot laner Trevor “Spawn” Kerr-Taylor, and Canadian support player Vincent “Biofrost” Wang.

Dignitas was unable to make headway in tournaments this year. At both the Spring and Summer LCS tournaments, their League of Legends roster was eliminated in the group stage. Although reports say that, this new addition to the roster is a move to salvage their unimpressive performance and not just a means of replacement for the members who recently exited the team.

The team announced that they have parted ways with Ersin “Blue” G?ren, AD Carry Toàn “Neo” Tr?n, who was in the team’s academy, and their strategic coach Joshua Alan “Mabrey” Mabrey, who has been with the organization since last February.

During this offseason, Dignitas has reportedly been involved in a number of different transactions. Although the organization is yet to make official statements on these signings, it is likely that they are waiting to unveil a full roster all at once. Another report earlier this week revealed the American team had also reached an agreement with Cloud9’s Turkish top laner ?rfan Berk “Armut” Tükek.

Nicolaj “Jensen” Jensen qualified for the League of Legends World Championship for the eighth consecutive time after Cloud9 defeated Evil Geniuses 3-1 in the LCS Championship on Sunday, surpassing a global record that he had previously shared with his longtime teammate Zachary “Sneaky” Scuderi.

Following eight consecutive performances overall, the 27-year-old Danish player will tie the record for most Worlds appearances when he shows up at the 2022 World Championship. Yiliang “Peter” Peng, popularly known as Doublelift, and a member of Team Liquid, has made eight appearances at the competition as well.

Jensen competed in his first World Championship in 2015, when he was only 20 years old, with Cloud9. He had taken over the role of the squad’s former strategist and mid laner, Hai, who was retiring at the time. During his time with the organization, he qualified for the World Championships in 2016, 2017, and 2018. He then went on to qualify for the World Championships with Team Liquid for the next three consecutive years, 2019 through 2021. During that span of time, he won the first of his two LCS titles and qualified for the MSI Finals in 2019, before rejoining Cloud9 in 2022.

Given that Jensen was not even playing for a team during the Spring Split, this accomplishment carries a little bit more weight than it normally would in this season’s competition. Even though he had held the role for three years and had a wonderful performance at Worlds 2021, S?ren “Bjergsen” Bjerg was brought in to replace him as the mid laner for Liquid. Hence, he did not participate in the Spring of 2022.

After the dismal performance of Cloud9 during the Spring Split, the organization decided to bring back one of its former mid laners to fill the void left by Ibrahim “Fudge” Allami, who had moved back to the top lane following the departure of LCS 2022 Spring MVP and top laner, Park “Summit” Woo-tae, from the team.

Despite having comparatively less performance during the Summer Split, Cloud9 prevailed over the North American team, CLG, in a five-game series during the first round of the LCS Championship. They then secured their spot at Worlds for the eighth time in the last decade by claiming an unexpected win over the top-seeded Evil Geniuses.

Prior to Team Vitality’s seventh-place finish in the 2018 LEC Summer Split, mid laner Luka “Perkz” Perkovi? had qualified for the World Championships six times in a row while playing for G2 and Cloud9. Therefore, the Team Liquid support player Jo “CoreJJ” Yong currently holds the record for the longest active Worlds streak, which is at six. However, Team Liquid’s winning streak will come to an end if they are unable to defeat both CLG and the team that wins the match between Evil Geniuses and TSM.

This year, you can watch Jensen and the rest of Cloud9 compete in the World Championships on either the play-in stage in Mexico City on September 29 or the group stage at Madison Square Garden in New York City on October 7. Visit GG.Bet to see all the odds on the World Championship.
