According to the official League of Legends World Championship 2024 Pick’Em, Carl Martin Erik “Rekkles” Larsson is listed as T1’s support for the organisation’s quest to hoist their fifth Summoner’s Cup.

LoL Worlds’ Pick’Em returned on Wednesday, September 18, one week before the League of Legends World Championship 2024 Play-In stage opening game.

Giving the fans a chance to test their knowledge and claim in-game cosmetic items, Pick’Em highlighted an exciting detail involving Rekkles.

Rekkles travels to LoL World Championship as a substitute

The former Fnatic star ADC is listed as T1 support for the LoL World Championship, which indicates the possibility of the 27-year-old being involved as a substitute for Ryu “Keria” Min-seok.

The player or the organisation have yet to confirm the information; however, Rekkles’ inclusion in the official LoL Worlds 2024 Pick’Em roster all but confirms he will join T1 on their trip to Europe.

Mainly known for his time at Fnatic as the organisation’s star ADC, the Swede left the region in December 2023 to join T1’s Academy roster.

Despite not being given a chance to appear in Korea’s top league, Rekkles enjoyed a successful debut season with his new team and helped T1 Academy place fourth in the LCK Challenger League 2024 Summer Playoffs.

Rekkles’ lack of involvement with the main lineup does not take away from the possibility of T1 bringing him along on their quest to defend the world championship title.

Yet his role within a team remains uncertain and could be limited to only scrims and an emergency call-up.

In an unlikely scenario where Rekkles replaces Keira as the starting support for T1, LoL Worlds 2024 would mark his seventh appearance on the biggest stage and the first since 2020, when Rekkles helped Fnatic reach the quarterfinals in China.

T1 are not favoured to win LoL Worlds 2024

T1 travels to Europe with a lot to prove following their lacklustre showing in the latter stages of LCK season.

Despite winning the Esports World Cup 2024, the Korean juggernauts struggled to keep up domestically and qualified for the LoL Worlds by the skin of their teeth after placing second in the LCK 2024 Regional Finals.

Priced at +800 with League of Legends betting sites, T1 is tied with LNG Esports as the fifth-favourite in the outright betting markets, behind Top Esports, Hanwha Life Esports, and two top contenders in Bilibili Gaming and Gen.G.

LoL Worlds 2024 kicks off on Wednesday, September 28, with the first series of the play-in stage before the main stage begins on October 3.

In a dramatic showdown at the LCK Regional Finals, Dplus KIA secured their spot as the Korean league’s third seed for the LoL World Championship after a thrilling 3-2 victory over T1.

The series marked Dplus KIA’s first win against T1 this year, breaking T1’s perfect 6-0 record in their 2023 meetings.

The win also ended Heo “ShowMaker” Su’s 15-match losing streak against Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok and T1, with ShowMaker earning MVP honours for his standout performances, especially in the decisive game five, where his LeBlanc was crucial in clinching the victory.

The match held even more significance for Dplus KIA’s rookie jungler, Choi “Lucid” Yong-hyeok.

In his debut LCK season, Lucid not only helped secure his team’s World Championship qualification but also earned the “Rookie of the Year” title, solidifying his position as one of the brightest new talents heading into the global stage.

Despite T1 taking a 2-1 lead after game three, the team faltered in the final two games.

A controversial decision saw Faker, who had been dominant on Yone, switched to Corki, limiting his playmaking potential.

Dplus KIA capitalised on T1’s struggles, ultimately winning the 192-minute series, which was filled with back-and-forth mistakes and counterplays on both sides.

With this defeat, T1, who is the reigning World Champion, is on the brink of missing Worlds for the first time in the team’s storied history.

Their last chance to qualify comes on Saturday, September 14th, where they will face the winner of KT Rolster and BNK FearX.

KT Rolster and FearX will battle on Friday, September 13th, to determine who will challenge T1 in the final match for the LCKs fourth and last Worlds seed.

The post LNG could be without star mid-laner at LoL Worlds 2024 appeared first on Esport Bet.

]]>
The League of Legends Pro League (LPL) third seed, LNG Esports, may have to compete at the 2024 LoL World Championship without their star mid-laner, Lee “Scout” Ye-chan, due to ongoing legal complications with his former team, EDward Gaming (EDG).

The dispute stems from Scout’s transfer to LNG at the start of the 2023 season, which led EDG to file a lawsuit.

After losing the first trial, EDG appealed the case, which has since escalated to a second trial.

As part of the legal proceedings, EDG reportedly requested a travel ban on Scout, complicating his ability to participate in the World Championship.

Scout had planned to return to South Korea for vacation but has been forced to remain in China while the case progresses.

If the court rules against him, the travel ban could extend into October, meaning Scout would miss the Swiss stage of Worlds, held in Berlin.

This situation places LNG in a precarious position, as they currently lack a substitute mid-laner.

Their only substitute is Zhao “Shadow” Ziqiang, a former jungler who lacks Scouts expertise in the mid-lane.

Although some teams have filled gaps by loaning players, Scout’s absence would severely impact LNG’s chances at Worlds due to his pivotal role in their success.

Scout has been instrumental in LNGs performance, helping them secure a fourth-place finish in the 2024 LPL Summer Split playoffs and win the Regional Finals over Weibo Gaming.

His potential absence would disrupt LNGs momentum, as they rely heavily on his individual skill to compete at the highest level.

SuperGent, the agency representing Scout, has issued a public plea to EDG, urging them to lift the travel ban for the sake of both the fans and LNGs performance at Worlds.

However, without EDGs cooperation, it seems unlikely that Scout will be able to attend.

Complicating matters further are rumours that Scout’s agency may have mishandled his contractual obligations, potentially breaching contracts while trying to secure his transfer to LNG.

As the 2024 World Championship approaches, Scouts involvement remains uncertain.

If the legal battle doesnt resolve in his favour, LNG will be forced to find a replacement and adapt quickly.

The esports community is anxiously awaiting the outcome of the case, knowing that Scouts presence could be the key to LNGs success at Worlds.

NRG and Immortals from the League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) are reportedly not making the jump into Riot Games newly unified League of Legends Americas competition.

This information, first shared by esports journalist Travis Gafford, has surprised many, particularly with NRGs unexpected exit.

Immortals departure comes as little surprise due to their underwhelming performance since rejoining the LCS in 2019.

However, NRGs exit has left the community stunned, especially considering the organisation acquired Counter Logic Gaming (CLG) and its LCS slot in 2023.

In a short span, NRG built a championship-winning roster, had a solid run at the 2023 World Championship, and now appears to be walking away from League of Legends esports.

Fans expressed frustration, with some accusing NRG of buying the team only to let it operate on autopilot before bailing.

This report also lists six teams expected to participate in the new League of Legends Americas competition: Cloud9, Dignitas, Shopify Rebellion, FlyQuest, and 2024 World Championship representatives Team Liquid and 100 Thieves.

While these teams are expected to make the transition, there are still uncertainties, particularly regarding 100 Thieves, which is rumoured to be considering restructuring or even selling its league spot.

The restructuring of the LCS comes as Riot Games plans to merge North Americas LCS with Latin America’s LLA and Brazils CBLOL into a unified two-conference region by 2025.

While teams like Cloud9, FlyQuest, Liquid, and Shopify Rebellion have reportedly embraced the changes, nothing is set in stone until Riot formally announces the final list of participants.

T1 and Dplus KIA will begin their chase for the final League of Legends World Championship 2024 ticket on Thursday, September 12, in the first round of the LoL Champions Korea (LCK) 2024 Regional Finals. They last clashed in the losers’ bracket of the LCK 2024 Summer Playoffs, when T1 won in four maps.

Top League of Legends betting sites have priced T1 as -238.1 favourites — a bit shorter than their last clash with Dplus KIA, when T1 closed at -188.68. Considering how that series played out, it is a relatively small price change.

T1 have not looked great this split. They’ve lost the clutch factor, seem to struggle with communication, and even individually, they are not at the level you would expect the Esports World Cup 2024 champions to be.

Dplus KIA have also produced concerning results in the final split of the season. Heo “ShowMaker” Su and co. have played several games where they look incredible before collapsing when it matters most, and this trend has become a real concern.

There are cases to be made for Dplus KIA at plus money due to their high ceiling and T1’s lacklustre form. However, the reigning world champions have improved enough in recent series to warrant taking their side in the map handicap market.

Hanwha Life Esports (HLE) shocked the League of Legends world by defeating Gen.G 3-2 in the grand final of the LCK 2024 Summer Split to claim their first regional title.

This upset ended Gen.G’s golden road, securing HLE the top seed from Korea for the 2024 League of Legends World Championship.

Gen.G had been a powerhouse throughout 2024, built around the incredible talent of Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon.

They won the LCK Spring title and dominated the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI), defeating Bilibili Gaming.

Gen.G’s 17-1 record in the LCK Summer Split made them the overwhelming favourites to complete the rare and coveted LoL grand slamwinning both domestic splits and MSI.

In the upper bracket final, they handily beat HLE 3-1, reinforcing their dominance and seemingly cruising towards another title.

HLE, meanwhile, had steadily improved over the course of the year.

Though they finished third in the spring behind T1, they showed progress throughout the season, culminating in a strong playoff run.

HLE even defeated Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok and T1 in the lower bracket to earn another chance at Gen.G in the grand final.

Despite their resurgence, HLE entered the series as underdogs, with Gen.G heavily favoured to complete the golden road.

HLE took the first blow, winning a tightly contested first game.

Gen.G responded in championship form, taking the next two games and putting themselves on the verge of another title.

But HLE roared back, decisively winning the fourth game to force a game five.

In the deciding match, Kim “Zeka” Geon-woos Yone dominated Chovys Corki in the midlane, securing HLEs victory and the 2024 LCK Summer Championship.

Zekas performance earned him the Finals MVP title, marking his first LCK championship.

The victory was especially poignant for HLEs Choi “Doran” Hyeon-joon, Han “Peanut” Wang-ho, and Yoo “Delight” Hwan-joongthree players who had been part of Gen.G just a year earlier.

In a twist of fate, they were the ones to halt Gen.G’s golden road.

Peanut, now HLEs star jungler, made history by becoming the first jungler to win seven LCK championships.

Reflecting on his journey in a post-match interview, he recalled winning his first title eight years ago with ROX Tigers.

Zeka, in his first LCK title win, acknowledged how his past struggles against Chovywho held a dominant 16-1 record against him before this serieshad fueled his growth.

“The process of losing against Chovy up until this day is what allowed me to win today,” he remarked.

For Gen.G, this loss ended their dreams of a perfect year.

However, their journey is far from over.

As they set their sights on LoL Worlds 2024, they will aim to regroup and reclaim their status on the international stage.

Despite the bitter defeat, Gen.Gs spring and summer dominance still cements them as a formidable force.

This upset marked the second consecutive year that a team came tantalisingly close to achieving the elusive grand slamlast year it was JD Gaming from the LPL, and this time, Gen.G.

Their defeat underscores the unpredictability and excitement of competitive League of Legends.

With the LCK Regional Finals on the horizon, teams like T1 will now battle for the remaining Worlds spots.

But for now, the LCK crown belongs to Hanwha Life Esports, who dethroned the reigning champions in a dramatic, unforgettable series.

As the 2024 World Championship approaches, fans can expect even more surprises, upsets, and electrifying moments on the international stage.

HANWHA LIFE ESPORTS vs T1 LoL BETTING & MATCH DETAIL

Best Odds: HLE -238.1 at BetOnline | T1 +179 at BetOnline When: September 7, 2024 | 15:00 KST Watch Live: Lolesports, Twitch

Hanwha Life Esports and T1 will lock horns on Saturday, September 7, in the lower-bracket final in the League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) 2024 Summer Playoffs. Hanwha Life won when these two clashed in the second round, and according to the LoL betting sites, the rematch should not end any differently.

Hanwha Life Esports made easy work of T1 at the end of August, beating the Korean juggernauts in three maps. T1 struggled on the day, with weird drafts and poor execution, but most notably, the players did not seem like they were on the same page.

On a more positive note, Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok and co. performed much better against Dplus KIA in the last round, when it seemed like they had figured some things out.

Hanwha Life Esports lost to Gen.G in the LCK upper-bracket finals but performed surprisingly well.

Two games were close and could have ended either way, but the other two were closer to one-way traffic. While HLE could not make it over the finish line, it mostly had to do with the fact that Gen.G are simply that good.

The decision of whether or not to back T1 in this contest comes down to how much their improved showing against Dplus KIA means. While it was a solid display, T1 have been struggling more than expected for months now, so it is fair to assume T1 are not the same team from earlier in the season.

On the other side, Hanwha Life Esports are still the same counter-punching team — a style which should not work against any elite squad. Yet they performed against Gen.G on two of the four maps, and knowing how flawed T1 are, HLE could make it work again.

T1 can turn on at any point, but if we look at the bigger picture, Han “Peanut” Wang-ho and his crew have been the better team over the last two months.

FLYQUEST vs 100 THIEVES LoL BETTING & MATCH DETAIL

Best Odds: FLY -277.78 at BetOnline | 100T +205 at BetOnline When: September 6, 2024 | 13:00 PDT Watch Live: Lolesports, Twitch

The lower-bracket final of the League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) 2024 Championship pits FlyQuest against the surging 100 Thieves for a spot in the grand finals. The two squads met just once during the LCS 2024 Summer regular season, when FlyQuest eked out a 2-1 victory.

The top LoL betting sites have FlyQuest priced as favourites to defeat 100 Thieves for the second time. That is unsurprising, despite 100T’s shock victory against Cloud9 in the previous round.

100 Thieves have already exceeded expectations in the LCS 2024 Championship by placing top three and securing a spot at the 2024 LoL World Championship. However, they’ve had a fairly easy road, with two victories against Dignitas and one against Cloud9.

Beating Cloud9 is no small feat, but considering how C9 have performed this split — particularly in that series — it is hard to praise 100 Thieves too much. On the other side, Rayan “Sniper” Shoura and co. deserve some recognition for being able to punish Cloud9’s mistakes and poor drafting.

FlyQuest enter this match off a close 2-3 loss against Team Liquid, having previously beaten Cloud9 and NRG without any issues. Liquid have been the only serious threat to FlyQuest for the LCS title, and even they barely made it past Gabri?l “Bwipo” Rau’s crew, who have made a strong case for themselves as North America’s No.2 team.

Picking a winner comes down to how much weight we can put on 100 Thieves’ run to this stage. While they beat Cloud9, they did not have to deal with strong resistance on the day, so it is fair to assume they will not have it as easy on Friday.

FlyQuest are still fairly vulnerable, especially in the early game. However, they will rarely go hard out of the gate, which should prevent 100 Thieves from getting too much traction early in the series.

FlyQuest to win with at least two maps to spare is a solid option at -126.58 with top League of Legends bookies.

The League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) Summer 2024 lower bracket semi-final saw Cloud9 face off against 100 Thieves for a coveted spot at Worlds 2024.

Cloud9, after a tough 3-1 loss to FlyQuest, found themselves in the lower bracket, while 100 Thieves rebounded from their defeat to Team Liquid by edging out Dignitas in a closely contested series.

The match began with 100 Thieves drawing first blood, outclassing Cloud9 to take a 1-0 lead.

However, Cloud9 quickly responded to even the series at 1-1 heading into the third game.

Game 3 was a struggle for Cloud9, especially with Joseph “Jojopyun” Pyun on LeBlanc, as 100 Thieves took the lead again, going up 2-1.

In the final game, Cloud9 appeared lost, leading to a 1-3 series defeat and their elimination from the LCS Summer 2024, marking a heartbreaking miss at Worlds for the once-dominant team.

The victory for 100 Thieves secured their spot at Worlds 2024 and propelled them to the LCS Summer 2024 lower final, where they will face FlyQuest for a place in the grand final.

This win was particularly special for rookie player Rayan “Sniper” Shoura, who gave a shoutout to his brother and his family following the match.

Sniper, in his first year in the LCS, is now set to showcase his skills on the LoL Worlds stage, expressing his excitement to face T1s Choi “Zeus” Woo-je.

Cloud9s elimination is a significant upset in the LCS, especially given their consistent presence at Worlds for over a decade.

Despite a strong Summer Split, their hopes for redemption were shattered by 100 Thieves, who delivered standout performances, particularly from Lim Quid Hyeon-seung and Frank Tomo Lam.

Reflecting on the series, Quid remarked that 100 Thieves outplayed Cloud9 in terms of macro, even in their one loss.

100 Thieves journey to Worlds is a remarkable turnaround after a difficult summer split, where they suffered four consecutive losses.

Many had written them off, but after a critical win over Dignitas in the playoffs, they found their rhythm.

Support star Bill “Eyla” Nguyen credited the teams mid-season work for their resurgence, which ultimately led to their victory over Cloud9.

As 100 Thieves prepares to take on FlyQuest, Cloud9 is left to reflect on what went wrong this season.

With changes already made before summer, including the departure of Coach Alfonso “Mithy” Aguirre Rodrguez and veteran top laner Ibrahim “Fudge” Allami, its unclear what the future holds for the team as they face their second-ever miss at Worlds.

Meanwhile, 100 Thieves will aim to continue their momentum, hoping to challenge Team Liquids undefeated Summer Split in the grand final.

Another big week of pro gaming kicks off on September 3, 2024, with Dota 2 taking centre stage.

Dota 2 will be the highlight esports title across the next two weeks, with the 13th edition of The International kicking off on September 4.

The 20th season of the Counter-Strike 2 ESL Pro League will also commence this week, with action from Group A starting on September 3.

Meanwhile, the Korean (LCK) and North American (LCS) League of Legends summer splits will conclude this weekend.

The International is the most prestigious Dota 2 event on the calendar, with 16 of the world’s best teams taking their place in the two-week event.
