In this betting preview, we will take a look at the last round of KeSPA Cup Elimination fixtures, set to take place this Thursday, December 26. There we will see two exciting fixtures, featuring Jin Air Green Wings and DragonX take on Spear Gaming and Chungnam respectively in a bid to punch their ticket for the qualifying round.

Here are our betting predictions with betting odds, courtesy of BetOnline.

DragonX vs Chungnam

  • Thursday, December 26 – 17:00 KST

DragonX will enter 2020 with a new roster and a new name, having renamed themselves from Kingzone DragonX to DragonX earlier in October.

Returning to the team for another season, we have the bot lane tandem Kim “Daft” Hyuk-kyu and Ryu “Keria” Min-seok. Joining them will be a rookie jungler Hong “Pyosik” Chang-hyeon and two former Griffing players – mid-laner Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon, and top laner Choi “Doran” Hyeon-joon.

The acquisition of the former two Griffin players is in our books a solid move, yet we have some questions about Pyosik who doesn’t have any experience playing at the top level. In a way, Doran is also a rookie in LCK, seeing how he has joined Griffin’s starting lineup late in May 2019.

In other team news, DragonX head coach and former Griffin head coach Kim “cvMax” Dae-ho has been banned from participating in League of Legends professional scene, but got the suspension revoked late in November due to a petition from League of Legends community with over 200,000 signatures. That ultimately means he will be coaching DragonX and play a pivotal role in their development.

Despite having two rookies, we don’t believe DragonX should be underestimated heading into 2020, especially seeing how they have an exceptional coach staff, which should help the youngsters develop. All in all, DragonX are bursting with potential and the mix of young and experienced players should result in a very successful season.

As far as this bout is concerned, there is no going around the fact Chungnam ($12.90) are far inferior to DragonX in each and every way. To see them cause any issues to DragoX, let alone win this fixture would arguably be the biggest upset in the history of esports. We don’t expect to see any miracles here.

    Prediction: DragonX -1.5 @ -714.29 @ BetOnline

Jin Air Green Wings vs Spear Gaming

  • Thursday, December 26 – 20:00 KST

After an underwhelming season, Jin Air Green Wings ($1.40) will be looking to improve in 2020, but seeing how they have failed to make any massive changes to their team, we have our doubts Green Wings will be able to impress in LCK.

Ahead of 2020 season, Green Wings signed of Cha Ji-hoon as their new head coach, Kwon “Light” Sun-ho as their ADC and Park “Senan” Hee-seok as the team’s new support player. On the other side, Green Wings saw Lee “Bambi” Gyu-bin and Moon “Route” Geom-su both leave the team.

The two arrivals seem very solid, considering Senan previously played for LCK team Afreeca Freecs while Light proved to be one of the best ADC mains in 2019 CK Summer Split. There he averaged 74.2% win rate in and was among the top three in KDA, CSPM and GPM.

Despite some solid additions, yet we have our doubts Green Wings have the needed quality to contest the top spots in LCK. That being said, they are rightfully the favourites to defeat Spear Gaming this Thursday.

Spear Gaming ($2.76) ended last season at the sixth place in CK Summer, which was a solid result, considering it was their first appearance in CK, after they qualified via CK 2019 Summer Promotion under the name BeomSAMA. Now they are entering the new season with high ambitions and a completely new roster, which welcomed four new members to the lineup.?

In December Spear Gaming signed Yoon “Destroy” Jeong-min, Kim “Chasy” Dong-hyeon, Lee “Jaguar” Chae-hwan and Kim “Asper” Tae-gi, while keeping ahold of Kim “Winter” Yo-han, who has been with the team since May 2019.

As we see it, the biggest two additions to the team are Asper and Jaguar, who were previously members of Gen.G and DAMWON Gaming. While neither had a lot of playtime for their teams, being a part of LCK team does make them slightly more valuable due to the experience they gathered.

With Jaguar and Asper as Spear Gaming’s bottom lane, we can expect they will manage to compete with Green Wings’ bottom lane tandem, making this match much closer than what the odds suggest. All things considered, Green Wings should come out ahead, but we believe Spear Gaming should put up a solid fight and chip at least one map off their opponents.

  • Prediction: Spear Gaming +1.5 @ -172.41 @ BetOnline

Betting Predictions for June 17

MVP vs. Gen.G

Both teams have impressed on their debuts this split, and this match has the potential to be the sleeper funfest of this week. It’s a clash of two styles and two teams who have found their own ways to work in the new meta, and it will be a blast to see which strategy works better.

MVP have seemingly decided to dive heads-in into the craziness, steamrolling bbq with the infamous Yi/Taric duo, and then doing the same with a mid lane Irelia. Gen.G, on the other hand are sticking to the classic compositions, paired with improved early game activity. They also have a very smart coaching staff that should help them escape MVP’s drafting mind games. Individually, with Crown out and Fly in for the time being, Gen.G is unquestionably better than MVP, and the team that took down Kingzone could extend their good start with a win in this match as well.

Chance of winning: MVP 25%, GEN 75%
Betting prediction: Gen.G to win, paying -333.33 at BetOnline.

Jin Air Green Wings vs. Hanwha Life Esports

The first week of LCK ends with a match of two mid-tier teams from last split, always above the bottom feeders but never quite there with the top contenders. Jin Air and Hanwha Life both suffered defeats in their first matches, and a win here should be a must for them if they don’t want to fall behind in the playoff race at the very beginning.

Hanwha’s top laner Lindarang is probably the most improved LCK player since the season started, and he’s one of the rare players showing that it is still possible to carry the game from top lane. A good plan and a good performance from him and Lava could give them an edge in this extremely close matchup, but Jin Air certainly have their chances if Grace and Teddy show up big. (HLE 55%, JAG 45%)

Chance of winning: HLE 55%, JAG 45%
Betting prediction: Jin Air Green Wings to win, paying +110 at BetOnline.

Betting Predictions for June 15

Jin Air Green Wings vs. Kingzone DragonX

Kingzone’s first games of the split showed that they’re more than willing to embrace the insanity of the new meta and play stuff like bot lane Mordekaiser. What leaves a bad taste in the mouths of their fans is the lightning-fast defeat to Gen.G, which nobody saw coming after Kingzone took a 1-0 lead. Can Jin Air make another upset against the champions?

It’s tough to say if Kingzone will be up to more unconventional shenanigans after Gen.G dismantled them twice with fairly standard comps. Their starting jungler Peanut is also apparently out for the week after playing in the Asian Games qualifiers, so Cuzz is taking his spot for now. It will be on PraY and Bdd to carry them, and while Jin Air are a good team, they’re not individually up to par with Kingzone. Unless Teddy makes some miracle plays for the Green Wings, Kingzone DragonX should be looking to grab their first series win here.

Chance of winning: JAG 20%, KZ 80%
Betting prediction: Kingzone DragonX to win Map 1, paying -454.55 at BetOnline.

Gen.G vs. SK Telecom T1

It looks like the name change did very good for Gen.G, as they surprisingly performed extremely well in their first match against Kingzone. SKT, on the other side, are not looking too healthy, having lost to Afreeca Freecs in their opening fixture, and will be looking to bounce back against one of their main rivals over the past years.

Gen.G decided to play with their substitute mid laner Fly against KZ, and it paid off as the returnee from NA brought them the playmaking potential they lacked in Spring. Their sub jungler Haru also had a great time in the new meta, making a substantial difference in the early game. That’s where SKT’s main issue lies – Blank is not a proactive early game jungler, and in a meta where early game means almost everything, he’s going to have a hard time. They still have Faker who can certainly be their hard-carry if played around, so ruling them out completely would be too harsh, but I think Gen.G can and will beat them this time.

Chance of winning: GEN 70%, SKT 30%
Betting prediction: Gen.G to win, paying +100 at BetOnline.

Betting Predictions for June 13

Kingzone DragonX vs. Gen.G

After a disappointing MSI where they were convincingly beaten by China’s RNG in the finals, the champions of Korea return to the domestic league to face Gen.G. The world champs have had an even worse 2018, ending fifth in Spring and making a few interesting roster additions for the upcoming split.

RNG found out what no Korean team managed to discover: Kingzone are bad at playing from behind. They got repeatedly stomped after falling behind in the early game, which was surely pleasing to watch for their domestic competitors. Getting ahead in the first 15 minutes could be where Gen.G will be aiming, but that’s where their problems lay all year. Gen.G, then KSV, were one of the worst early game teams in the entire league, and unless Ambition and Crown have changed their habits substantially, I don’t see them getting a lead. Actually, if Gen.G play as spinelessly as they did by the end of Spring, I fully expect Kingzone to stomp them into the ground.

Betting prediction: Kingzone DragonX to win, paying -500 at BetOnline.

Afreeca Freecs vs. SK Telecom T1

The long-standing rivalry between Afreeca and SKT looked a bit different last split, as SKT played the role of the underdog while the Freecs fought for the title. With no changes to either team’s squads, it’ll be interesting to see if SKT can finally get a series win over a top team.

Afreeca looked extremely solid in Spring, being the clear second-best team after the untouchable Kingzone. Playing a wide variety of styles, from the classic splitpush strategies to the risky triple-threat compositions, definitely brings them an advantage in the draft, as all of their players can step up and carry. SKT’s jungle tragedy still hasn’t come to an end, as their choice is still between starting Blank and Blossom, who were both in terrible form for nearly the entire Spring. Unless Faker is back to his Unkillable Demon King form (which is quite possible, to be honest), Afreeca definitely have the upper hand in this interesting matchup.

Betting prediction: Afreeca Freecs to win, paying -138.89 at BetOnline.

KT Rolster vs. Jin Air Green Wings

Another split without a title for KT. The superteam in white faltered in the semifinals once again, after another good, but not top-tier regular season for such an expensive and talented team. They will be looking to start a new grueling battle for Worlds against Jin Air, who got a new support and brought in a former world class jungler to refresh their squad.

KT are slowly but surely resolving their synergy-related issues, but are starting to see some individual ones. PawN is definitely not fit enough to play, and the young Ucal has taken the starting mid laner role permanently. Deft has had a rough split, and it’s less common to see KT smashing the early game now than it was last year. Jin Air, on the other hand, will probably try to putt all their eggs into the Teddy basket and hope the prodigy ADC carries them to victory again. Even weakened as they might be, KT are still good enough to take down Jin Air.

Betting prediction:KT Rolster to win, paying -357.14 at BetOnline.

]]>
There is nothing better than having a punt on the LOL LCK Korea competition on a Saturday is there? Well maybe there is but we’ve got nothing better to do.

The day kicks of with KSV Esports clashing with Kingzone DragonX and it promises to be a bumper battle with the World Champs clashing with the LCK champs.

Our LOL LCK Korea expert Kosta has cast his eye and given predictions for Saturday’s matches.

KSV ESPORTS vs. KINGZONE DRAGONX

The world champions meet the LCK champions in a rematch of their first games this split. And while KSV won the first duel, things are looking much different now.
Kingzone have clear win conditions in their strong early game, which KSV is notoriously inept at, and their aggressive jungler who could run rings around Ambition, who still prefers to play more of a herbivore style. Khan is also in much better shape than his bitter rival CuVee, and winning both top lane and the ganking game could mean a very early end for KSV. The world champs will likely, as usual, focus on getting bot lane ahead, but against Pray and Gorilla it will be a very difficult job. KSV are known to pop off in hard games and they absolutely have a chance of beating KZ again, but Kingzone are probably too hard to beat right now.

Best bet: Kingzone to win, paying -400 at BetOnline.

ROX TIGERS vs. JIN AIR GREEN WINGS

At the start of this match, we will likely know if it has any competitive meaning, or if Jin Air are out and ROX are in playoffs. If both teams still have a chance, this might be the biggest bloodbath of all.
Jin Air’s strategy of getting Teddy fed might work in this matchup, because however good the synergy between Sangyoon and Key is, they were never a proficient laning duo. Youngsters Lava and Grace will have a very interesting battle of talent in the mid lane, which could go either way. ROX’s good drafts might be an important factor in this matchup, as well as in the jungle, where SeongHwan has recently been showing much more than UmTi.
Both teams have a very real chance of winning here. If I had to name a favourite, I’d say ROX, purely because their synergy and teamplay seem much more refined.

Best bet: Rox Tigers to win, paying -153.85 at BetOnline.

The post LoL: LCK Spring Split Week 9 bet predictions for March 21 appeared first on Esport Bet.

]]>
The most competitive League of Legends league in the world is only one week away from the end of the regular season. There are only two matches remaining for each squad, but the stakes couldn’t be higher: except for the very dominant leaders Kingzone DragonX and the last placed Kongdoo Monster, all of the remaining LCK teams can move up or down the ladder.

In the LCK, playoffs are formatted differently than in most of the other regions. Only 5 out of 10 competing teams reach the knockout stage, which is played in a gauntlet format: the #4 and #5 teams battle in a BO3 match, and the winner is pitted against the #3 team. The winner of that BO5 plays the second place team, and the regular season winners will play the winner of that match. So, in a nutshell, even a difference of one spot can mean the world to the playoff teams.

In addition to Kingzone, Afreeca Freecs and KT Rolster are locked into the playoffs, but will fight for the possession of the #2 spot, while the #4 and #5 spots will be decided by four teams: KSV, ROX Tigers, SK Telecom T1, and Jin Air Green Wings. The better of MVP and bbq Olivers will have the last safe spot in the league, while the other will be heading to relegations to fight against the best Challengers teams.

ESB LOL LCK expert Kosta gives his free predictions for Week 9 LCK Wednesday matches

KSV Esports vs Rox Tigers

Time: 7PM (GMT+9)

This match is the first direct duel between playoff contenders. If KSV win, they’re in; meanwhile, ROX have to win both of their matches to have a guaranteed playoff run.

If there was an award for the most inconsistent team in the world, KSV would probably get it. The reigning world champions have been hot and cold the entire split, occasionally smashing the opposition, but also often losing to much lesser teams. ADC Ruler is the sole consistent carry on the team, and KSV seem to completely rely on him and enable him as much as possible.

ROX are probably the most pleasant surprise of the split, and have reached their first real playoff chance since 2016. Lava has developed into a very potent mid laner, and he is the most likely win condition for the Tigers, considering Crown’s disappointing recent form. This is a tough match to predict, but just based on team cohesion, ROX might have a very slight edge in this matchup.

Best bet: While Rox is the underdog at +141 at BetOnline, we think an upset is on the cards.

Kingzone DragonX v Jin Air Green Wings

Time: 10PM (GMT+9)

Kingzone are smashing their fellow competitors so hard that it’s pretty safe to consider them the best team in the world at the moment. Jin Air desperately need a victory to keep their playoff dreams alive, but it will be extremely hard against the Dragons.

In short, Kingzone are firing on all cylinders this split. New jungler Peanut fit the team like a glove, and reunited with his former botlane is a joy to watch. His great form will be an obvious upper hand on Jin Air, whose jungler UmTi isn’t playing great at all. Teddy and Wraith form a good bot lane, but they are unlikely to win lane against PrayRilla and get Teddy rolling, which is basically the only real strategy Jin Air have been using this split. If Jin Air’s bot lane gets a lot of jungle help, that would mean that the talented, but still not very reliable SoHwan is left alone against the best top laner in the world.

Best bet: Kingzone will win this match, you can get -909.09 at BetOnline.

Kingzone DragonX vs. Jin Air Green Wings

Saturday, February 10, 3am EST / 8am GMT

Kingzone DragonX is about due for an upset and Jin Air Green Wings are the team to do it.

With a creep up the leaderboards and some historic record-breaking wins over SK Telecom T1 and other giants, Jin Air have made great picks and displayed on-point team comps that make us confident they’ll bring their A-game this Friday.

Both midlaner Lee ‘Grace’ Chanju and ADC Park ‘Teddy’ Jin-sung have dominated as roamers and shotcallers in recent weeks to bring the team in the same high regard as KDX and KSV, and bottom-laner Ji-min ‘Wraith’ Kwon has decisively shut out botlane threats time and time again.

Kingzone jungler Han ‘Peanut’ and support Kang ‘GorillA’ Beom-hyeon are their biggest threats in the KDA department, but so long as Wraith can free up Grace and Teddy to split-push, we’re confident they stand a great chance here.

Jin Air Green Wings to beat Kingzone DragonX: +200 ($3.00) at Bovada.lv

BBQ Olivers vs. MVP

Saturday, February 10, 6am EST / 11am GMT

BBQ Olivers showed some improvement last week, unexpectedly taking KSV Esports down to the wire with smart late-game team compositions and an overtime performance from AD carry Yongjun ‘Ghost’ Jang’s Kog’Maw, which saw him rack up a 7/0/2 KDA (kills/deaths/assists).

Properly taking advantage of a substantial gold lead remains BBQ’s main problem in this series, but we think they’ll have learned their lesson in time for their clash against the weakest team in the LCK.

They might not even need too, given the frankly laughable 1 – 5 performance MVP has put on so far, practically rolling over to KSV last week at every teamfight or objective struggle.

Expect another bloodbath in favour of BBQ Olivers here.

BBQ Olivers to beat MVP: -250 ($1.40) at Bovada.lv

SK Telecom T1 vs. KSV Esports

Sunday, February 11, 3am EST / 8am GMT

SK Telecom T1 has got to be the most disappointing LCK roster this series.

Fresh off their 2-0 sweep at the hands of Afreeca Freecs and their embarrassing loss to the equally unimpressive MVP, this is nowhere near the same world champion team fans rooted for last year.

KSV are clearly in top form with superior team compositions and individual player laning.

They won’t even need their full roster to secure this win if top laner Lee ‘CuVee’ Seong-jin continues to shut out his opponents as brutally as he managed last weekend with BBQ.

SK Telecom T1 to beat KSV Esports: -250 ($1.40) at Bovada.lv

KT Rolster vs. Kongdoo Monster

Sunday, February 11, 6am EST / 11am GMT

Aside from some account sharing drama with midlaner Cho ‘Mata’ Se-hyeong, KT Rolster have played consistently great LoL to breathe down the necks of both Kingzone DragonX and KSV Esports in third place.

Kongdoo delivered a great upset over KSV but they were categorically outmatched in the midlane and bot lane by Jin Air Green Wings last week – to an embarrassing extent.

Their top laner Kim ‘Roach’ Kang-hui seems to have run out of steam and against KT’s Song ‘Smeb’ Kyung-ho, we’re expecting some fairly straightforward teamfights here.

KT Rolster to beat Kongdoo Monster: -500 ($1.20) at Bovada.lv

With series wildcards Jin Air Green Wings on the up and SK Telecom T1 resembling nothing of its world champion roots, League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) continues to provide the most unpredictable LoL esports action in the world.

Maybe it’s because they stuck with the Bo3 (Best of 3) match format, or maybe the EU and NA LCS just aren’t stacking up anymore, but we’ve found the Korean competition this year a whole lot more interesting to watch.

Here are our top picks for week 3 of the LCK 2018 Spring Split.

LCK Spring Split – Parlay of the Week with Bovada.lv

  • Kingzone DragonX to beat ROX Tigers 2 – 0: -130 ($1.77)
  • Afreeca Freecs to beat BBQ Olivers: -210 ($1.48)
  • Jin Air Green Wings to beat KT Rolster: +225 ($3.25)
  • SK Telecom T1 to beat MVP: -450 ($1.22)

Kingzone DragonX vs. ROX Tigers

Day 2 on Wednesday, January 31, 3am EST / 8am GMT

Kingzone DragonX head into Week 3 in form after smashing former LCK three-time world champions SK Telecom T1 in a quick and dirty 2 – 0 sweep.

KDX have found their groove in calmly locking down objectives and promptly shutting down lane griefers, only hitting opponents hard once the right amount of gold and proper buffs are at their disposal.

It’s been fascinating to watch them bide their time, even when teams like SKT score First Blood and seemingly secure a crucial lead, only to be overwhelmed with KDX’s deadly long-game coordination.

ROX Tigers secured their own surprise win against Kongdoo Monster last week, but have rightly faced criticism for their sloppy 5-6 game record.

It’s clear they have struggled to take out equally troubled opponents as efficiently as Kingzone and we’re far from convinced they can pull an upset against the leaderboard champions.

Afreeca Freecs vs. BBQ Olivers

Day 2, Wednesday, January 31, 6am EST / 11am GMT

Two middling teams with a ton of issues in the shot-calling and team-fighting departments makes for an interesting mid-week clash.

We’re backing Afreeca Freecs to have a mini comeback here, given the potential of top laner Kim ‘Kiin’ Gi-in and jungler Lee ‘Spirit’ Day-yoon, both securing some solid KDA (Kills, Deaths, Assists) and baron steals throughout the series.

BBQ Olivers play aggressively enough but lack a vocal leader to make proper plays and effectively counter organized teamfights, such as the embarrassment they suffered last week against a resurgent KT Rolster.

Afreeca Freecs to beat BBQ Olivers: -210 ($1.48) at Bovada.lv

KT Rolster vs. Jin Air Green Wings

Day 3, Thursday, February 1, 3am EST / 8am GMT

The most competitive match of the week given their week-to-week improvements, but which of SK Telecom T1’s rivals can outdo the other?

KT Rolster’s top laner Song ‘Smeb’ Kyung-ho has improved dramatically in the aggro and shotcalling department and played a key role in guiding his team to victory over Afreeca last week.

However, the rest of the line-up were a little too dependent on Smeb’s guidance and let themselves get torn through crucial team-fights whenever he was not around.

In contrast, Jin Air’s AD carry Jin-seong ‘Teddy’ Park stole the show once more with his 16/1/7 KDA (kills/deaths/assists) and objective domination over previous opponents MVP.

But top laner Kim ‘SoHwan’ Jun-yeong also impressed in his new role, beating back MVP’s top laner veteran Kang ‘ADD’ Geon-mo effortlessly, and the rest of the team have displayed great coordination and support for each other without the need for excessive hand-holding.

After their earlier historic victory over SK Telecom T1, we’re more confident than ever Jin Air can make the transition to the top 3 and take down the inconsistent KT.

SK Telecom T1 vs MVP

Day 3, Thursday, February 1, 6am EST / 11am GMT

SK Telecom T1 have suffered some heart-breaking defeats this Spring Split and obviously aren’t the same world champions team they were in preceding years.

However, even with the paradigm shift, it’s hard to see them suffer another upset at the hands of MVP, who have failed to win even one game and have been outmatched at every turn.

With AD carry Bae ‘Bang’ Jun-sik and mid-laner Lee ‘Faker’ Sang-hyeok carrying the team, SK T1 have more than enough fire-power to at least avoid this embarrassment.

Week 2 of the ongoing League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) tournament is shaping up as the unpredictable and intense encounter fans have hoped for.

There were some spectacular upsets and unorthodox strategies on-show in the opening week skirmishes, with SK Telecom T1 the only one of our favourites to pull through as predicted, while the likes of Kingzone, KT Rolster and MVP failed to secure an early lead against much weaker opponents.

While the EU LCS and NA LCS have proven entertaining so far, the South Korean League of Legends Champions continues to show why they’re the best professional players in the world.

Here are our top picks for week 2 of the LCK 2018 Spring Split.

LCK Spring Split – Parlay of the Week with Bovada.lv

  • Jin Air Green Wings to beat MVP: -225 ($1.44)
  • SK Telecom T1 to beat KT Rolster: +140 ($2.40)
  • Kongdoo to beat ROX Tigers: -125 ($1.80)
  • KSV to beat Afreeca Freecs 2 – 0: -110 ($1.91)

Jin Air Green Wings vs. MVP

Day 2, Wednesday, January 24 3am EST / 8am GMT

Jin Air Green Wings made history last week with their gruelling, but hard-fought victory against SK Telecom T1, which was the longest professional League of Legends game ever played.

The roster changes Jin Air made in preparation for the 2018 season have paid off, with bottom-laner Ji-min ‘Wraith’ Kwon more than earning his keep against the high-regarded SK T1 bottom lane crew.

But it was AD carry Jin-seong ‘Teddy’ Park that stole the show, single-handedly carrying Jin Air into the late-game and holding off their opponents with Sivir for over 60 minutes before using his record-breaking creep score to push Jin Air through the siege and take the game in an astounding upset.

Coming off such an amazing performance leaves little contest here with MVP, who were swept by Kongdoo and KT Rolster 2 – 0. They had zero kills, dragons or towers in their first match against Kongdoo and while their back-line comp improved against KT, the same lack of team cohesion and communication from last season is more than apparent.

Jin Air Green Wings to beat MVP: -225 ($1.44) at Bovada.lv

kt Rolster vs. SK Telecom T1

Day 2, Wednesday, January 24 5am EST / 11am GMT

KT Rolster enters week 2 a little bloodied and a little battle-hardened after their disastrous defeat against Afreeca Freecs and subsequent redemption tour against MVP.

Their defeat to Afreeca was certainly unexpected and discipline and coordination problems remain apparent. Top laner Song ‘Smeb’ Kyung-ho played far too aggro for our liking, losing his position multiple times throughout their second game against MVP. His attempt to take on four of MVP’s players as mini-Gnar can only be described as dumbfounding. Some other poor plays ruined their chances of securing a baron and both matches went far longer than they needed to.

SK Telecom T1 closed out its match against the ROX Tigers last week with some interesting placement of their star players, shocking viewers when they put support superstar Lee ‘Wolf’ Jae-wan, a two-time LoL World Champion, in the jungle for the first time in his career.

They had some panic with Wolf playing too aggressively with Senjuani and losing first blood, but he would ultimately be awarded MVP honors and AD carry Bae ‘Bang’ Jun-sik and mid laner Lee ‘Faker’ Sang-hyeok’s were solid enough to secure the game in half an hour.

If it wasn’t for their heart-breaking defeat to Jin Air Green Wings, SK T1 would be the only predictable favourite in the LCK right now. Still, their consistency and synergy as a team and the effort they put into taking Jin Air right down to the wire still makes us more confident in their ability to pick apart KT’s frequent overextending line-up for an easier win this week.

SK Telecom T1 to beat KT Rolster: +140 ($2.40) at Bovada.lv

ROX Tigers vs. Kongdoo Monster

Day 3, Wednesday, January 25 3am EST / 8am GMT

The closest match-up on paper this week is Rox vs Kongdoo, but we think the latter have shown a lot more promise in their opening week to take home the win.

Kongdoo mid laner Lee ‘Edge’ Ho-seong and top laner Kim ‘Roach’ Kang-hui provided the best shut-out plays so far against the ill-prepared MVP last week, but the duo weren’t enough to counter bbq Olivers’ versatile new jungler. Still, they put up an extremely hard fight and the team clearly has a lot of communication and coordination to back up their individual skill, compared to some of the competition so far.

ROX Tigers did deliver a solid second game against SK T1, securing a win in just over half-an-hour without giving up any barons, dragons or towers, but were sloppy thereafter. Expect a closer game decided by Kongdoo’s superior top-lane play.

Kongdoo to beat ROX Tigers: -125 ($1.80) at Bovada.lv

KSV Esports vs. Afreeca Freecs

Day 3, Wednesday, January 25 5am EST / 11am GMT

KSV have proven to be the LCK team to beat after their comfortable opening 2 – 0 sweeps of Kingzone and Jin Air Green Wings, echoing a surprise upset in last year’s World Championships.

Afreeca Freecs did also defy expectations last week after smashing KT Rolster, the one team they haven’t been able to beat since the 2016 LCK Summer Split. Top laner Kim ‘Kiin’ Gi-in and Jungler Lee ‘Spirit’ Day-yoon did well with some unexpected baron steals and solid KDA (Kills, Deaths, Assists).

However, KSV’s discipline and coordination is something else and they play the best long-game in the League. Korea’s most popular mid-laner Kang ‘Ambition’ Chan-yong proved just that last week with his shot-calling, clutch decision making and varied strategies that put Kingzone on the back-foot, first with an all-out dive comp and later with immensely clever split-pushing.

We fully expect KSV to put Afreeca firmly in their place with a comfortable 2 – 0 win.

KSV to beat Afreeca Freecs 2 – 0: -110 ($1.91) at Bovada.lv
