GEN.G vs CHAOS ESPORTS CLUB ESL PRO LEAGUE SEASON 12 BETTING PREVIEW

After getting reverse-swept by Team Liquid on the opening day of ESL Pro League Season 12 North America, Chaos Esports Club will hope they can gain some traction this Tuesday when they clash with Gen.G.

Chaos have been mentioned in CS:GO esports circles quite frequently across the year, but for all the wrong reasons. They have made more than a dozen roster changes in 2020, and while it seemed like the signing of Nathan “leaf” Orf and Jonathan “Jonji” Carey at the start of June would finally bring some stability, that was not the case.

Last week, Joshua “steel” Nissan decided to end his 10-year Counter-Strike career and transition to VALORANT. As his replacement, Chaos acquired Mexican CS:GO pro Edgar “MarKE” Maldonado, who previously represented eUnited and Ze Pug Godz.

Chaos have played only one fixture since the latest roster change, and that ended in a 1-2 loss to Team Liquid on the opening day of the ESL Pro League. Chaos took the series lead with 16-10 on Nuke but completely fell apart on Overpass and Mirage, losing both 10-16.

One positive we can take from that series is the solid performance form MarKE, who averaged a 1.07 rating. On the other hand, it’s difficult to be too optimistic about Anthony “vanity” Malaspina and Jonji’s performances since they averaged 0.82 and 0.91 ratings respectively. They both average a shade under 1.10 across the last three months, so perhaps they just had an off day.

Gen.G enter this bout following a well-deserved 2-0 win against Triumph, who they defeated with 16-10 on Inferno and 16-10 on Mirage. The match was much closer than that score suggests, however, as Triumph held the lead at critical stages on both maps.

This marked Gen.G’s first win of the month after they lost to 100 Thieves (1-2) and FURIA (0-2) during ESL One Cologne 2020 Online North America. Although we shouldn’t undervalue their victory, Gen.G’s success came down to Hansel “BnTeT” Ferdinand’s performances alone.

The Indonesian CS:GO legend ended the series with a 1.61 average rating and a huge 1.86 on Mirage, which was far above any other player that day. Damian “daps” Steele was solid with 1.14, but it’s fair to say that Gen.G would have a much harder time defeating Triumph without BnTeT’s standout performance.

GEN.G vs CHAOS ESPORTS CLUB ESL PRO LEAGUE SEASON 12 BETTING PREDICTIONS

These teams last met at the end of June during cs_summit 6 Online North America, where Gen.G secured a comfortable 2-0 win. That result does not tell us much about how this bout will play out, however, considering Chaos’ roster changes and the fact that over two months have passed since.

Gen.G are priced as favourites to win here, but it’s difficult to trust a team that won a match solely due to one player’s phenomenal performance. As good as BnTeT is, he is unlikely to repeat those numbers any time soon.

That is not to say Chaos are a top-tier team by any stretch, but their recent wins over FURIA and 100 Thieves suggest they can hang with the big boys.

We like the odds on over 2.5 maps. Across the past three months, Gen.G saw 30.7% of their games end in three maps played, while Chaos has 32.3% of their matches go the distance in the same period. Additionally, Gen.G managed only two 2-0 wins in the last four months, so it’s safe to expect they will drop at least one map.

MIBR vs CHAOS ESPORTS CLUB BLAST PREMIER: SPRING 2020 AMERICAN SHOWDOWN BETTING PREVIEW

MiBR and Chaos Esports Club will meet for the fifth time this year when they face off in Group A of the BLAST Premier: Spring 2020 American Showdown this Tuesday.

MiBR enter the tournament following an underwhelming run through DreamHack Masters Spring 2020: North America, where they lost against FURIA (0-2) and Team Liquid (0-2) but managed to outperform Chaos (2-0) to secure a spot in the playoffs. The Brazilians also struggled at ESL One: Road to Rio – North America, where they beat YeaH (2-0), Bad News Bears (2-0) and Envy (2-1) but fell flat against Liquid (0-2) and FURIA (0-2) again to finish in seventh-eighth place.

Due to a lack of any notable success since they reached the FLASHPOINT finals in April, MiBR opted to make some roster changes last month. Former Team One player Alencar “trk” Rossato came in as a replacement for Ignacio “meyern” Meyer, who was bumped down to the inactive roster.

To date, trk has played only three games with MiBR and averaged a poor 0.84 rating. While we can give the 24-year-old Brazilian esports pro some slack, as he needs some time to adjust to his new team, his performances are far from what MiBR need to re-establish themselves as one of the top CS:GO teams.

Chaos Esports Club enter the BLAST Premier Spring Showdown on a six-game winning streak, although most of those results came against considerably weaker teams. Throughout the last week, Chaos defeated Team One (2-0), Recon 5 (16-10), Infinity (16-9), New England Whalers (16-14), Blood, sweat, and tears (16-7) and picked up a forfeit win against Big Frames.

While Chaos have proven they can deliver against weaker teams, they tend to fall flat when facing stronger opposition, as seen in their journey through DreamHack Masters Spring 2020: North America. Nevertheless, Chaos showed some promise in that event with a 2-1 win over Liquid and a three-map loss against FURIA.

Joshua “steel” Nissan and co. have not achieved any notable results this year, which is no surprise given their roster instability since January. Star AWPer Owen “smooya” Butterfield left the team at the end of March, while Hunter “SicK” Mims announced his retirement from CS:GO esports in April to pursue a career in VALORANT with Sentinels.

Chaos made their last roster change on Tuesday, May 12, when the North American esports organisation parted ways with Nathan “leaf” Orf, who failed to impress during his trial, and replaced him with former Bad News Bears player Jonathan “Jonji” Carey. While Jonji has starred with a 1.22 average rating across 13 fixtures, he has not yet been offered a permanent contract.

MIBR vs CHAOS ESPORTS CLUB BLAST PREMIER: SPRING 2020 AMERICAN SHOWDOWN BETTING PREDICTIONS

Chaos Esports Club (61.2%) and MiBR (60%) hold similar win rates across the last three months. Those numbers don’t mean much, however, considering Chaos faced much weaker opponents in that time.

Esports bookmakers have installed MiBR as favourites for this match, which is not surprising given they recently defeated Chaos at FLASHPOINT (2-1) and DreamHack Masters Spring 2020: North America (0-2). Having said that, the Brazilian have been struggling of late, especially since the Counter-Strike esports scene transitioned to online play.

This bout will be played as a best-of-one (Bo1) contest, which brings the underdogs right into the contest. While we are not will to back Chaos outright, over 26.5 rounds is a very tempting option. Chaos reached double digits on both maps in their last meeting with MiBR, and there is no reason to believe they can’t do it again here.
