LGD Gaming finished LoL Pro League 2023 Spring in 14th place with a poor 5-11 record; however, they’ve punched above their weight in the latter half of the season, often outperforming the market. Due to roster changes, this might not matter too much heading into LPL 2023 Summer.
During the offseason, LGD have acquired ADC Lee “Envyy” Myeong-joon (former Liiv SANDBOX), top laner Chen “fearness” Guo-Ji (formerly FunPlus Phoenix), and young mid laner Zheng “xqw” Xia-Jian. Looking at the roster moves, LGD Gaming didn’t downgrade its squad, and if the top side can gel well, this should be an excellent team that’ll again outperform expectations.
Invictus Gaming finished LPL 2023 Spring in 11th place, just one win below the playoff cutoff line. They’ve since promoted academy head coach Luo “Rashomon” Bin, jungler Guo “Tianzhen” Qi-Fan and ADC Luo “xiaoyueji” Shi-Hao, as well as signed mid laner Yuan “Cryin” Cheng-Wei from Ultra Prime.
Now fielding an eight-man roster, Invictus Gaming look like they have a better chance of competing for a playoff spot. But with so many options, IG will likely suffer the same fate as many other teams with extended rosters – there will be an adjustment period during which IG will test out different compositions.
On paper, Invictus Gaming look better, but +200 the top LoL betting sites are paying for LDG Gaming is way too generous.
LGD Gaming to win

Ninjas in Pyjamas finished the opening split of the LPL 2023 season in 13th place, with a 5-11 record and a 36% win rate. The lack of success ushered in changes, which included the signing of former Royal Never Give Up mid laner Xiang “Angel” Tao and ex-Weibo Gaming head coach Zeng “Maizijian” Tao.
NiP also extended their contract with jungler Zhao “shad0w” Zhi-Qiang, who might get a bit more playtime this split after his solid showings across five series in the latter part of LPL 2023 Spring. The roster changes look promising on paper, and if things fall into place, NiP will easily compete for a playoff spot this split.
Their next opponent, EDward Gaming, finished last split’s regular season in second place (13-3) but then stumbled in the playoffs and finished in third. Despite that. EDG haven’t made any roster changes, which makes sense since this is still a strong team that should be in the race for the LPL crown again – as long as meta suits them.
Ninjas in Pyjamas should do better than last split, but beating EDward Gaming is a bit too much to ask.
